Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital has just landed on Netflix (September 2025) and I thought id give it a watch and I’m glad I did.
The movie is a spiritual successor to Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum. It takes on the same basic principle, found footage horror of a ghost hunt gone wrong in a haunted hospital – this film uses real Influencers and celebrity personalities which is a pretty cool move making the move quite meta for people who are familiar with these influencers.
I did like the nod in the movie regarding the camera harnesses where it references and acknowledges Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum. People call this film a remake but I see it more as a spiritual successor of sorts.
well worth a watch, delivered on jump scares… a few ropey cgi moments but all together its a pretty fun movie!!
