Luc Besson’s Dracula (2025)

Imagine if you crossed Robert Eggers Nosferatu (2024) with Francis Ford Coppola Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992) and you get the Luc Besson Dracula movie!

A reimagining of the classic tale, it creates familiar iconic moments from Dracula that we know but gives it a fresh spin and creates something romantic and new.

Caleb Landry Jones plays a great Dracula that I feel could stand its own against Gary Oldmans version from the 90s. When I first saw the movie trailer I wasn’t initially sold on the look of him as Dracula but in the context of the movie it works and I actually I grew to really like his performance by the end of this movie.

Christoph Waltz is just a great actor in general and he doesn’t disappoint in this movie either! he plays “The Priest” send from the Vatican to assist the medical professionals with a new case. Christoph is playing the Van Helsing role but without using its name.

They also changed a few characters in the movie, like Lucy Westerna, is called Maria played by Matilda De Angelis who is amazing as a vampire in this movie!!!

I am not overly familiar with Zoë Bleu as an actress but she played a decent role in this movie as the Mina character.

After Stranger Things it was also cool seeing Raphael Luce (young henry creel) in this movie.

This version of the movie has been heavily inspired by the imagery of the 1992 Dracula movie and was trying to create the romantic gothic mood and feel of the recent Nosferatu movie.

If your a Dracula fan, this movie is worth a watch, if your looking for a deep dark brooding gothic romantic story, its also worth a watch.

As a Dracula fan I wasn’t disappointed, I enjoyed the movie for what it was and will be watching again, I own the DVD and will be keeping this one in my media collection for future viewing.
