Okay.. wowza! where to begin with this one.
That was a tough watch (in a good way!)
A group of young men who must keep walking at 3ph or be shot by the military. Its a sort of Hunger Games… the remaining man still walking is given a cash prize!
The idea is pretty simple but the emotional execution of the movie was stellar!
I cannot fault the emotional depth, suspense and chilling moments of THE LONG WALK the main chunk of the movie was outstanding and generally made me feel uneasy and I quickly fell in love with the characters.
This movie dosnt give you a long boring intro and more or less jumps directly into the action which I appreciate!!
However it does feel like we should have gotten more context and back story along the way! I did at times not fully understand the world around them… why this contest exists… is the military in control of the state… the whole country?? just a few unanswered questions for me which if answered would have raised the stakes even higher.
However as I say this film cannot be praised enough for the emotional trauma this movie just inflited on me… each and every death more haunting than the last… the extra graphical violence shown fully on screen to help you realise the stakes of what happens when they dont conform and keep walking!
This story told a great story of rebellion! it sadly had harrowing reflections of the world around us.
