Boop-Oop-a-Doop
Okay another public domain cartoon turned horror movie. This one wasn’t as good as the others but I do gotta say the movie is saved thanks to a decent performance of Betty Boop.
Hannah Fierman played “Betty” Boop and she was actually the best part of the whole film. She literally gave it a good go and made Betty boop have all the mannerisms and voice of the cartoon but made it real and rather unhinged which I enjoyed.
Every other character in this movie is so forgettable, i wish they didn’t lean into the supernatural element of this one and just kept it as Betty being a deranged slasher, the supernatural element to the ending just looses me completely im sorry to say.
the film was enjoyable partly down to the fact I was intrigued by the betty boop element of the film but if she was not in this movie I would not be rating it even x2 stars lol
In this movie they use the name “Dizzy Dishes” as the name of the club that betty worked. However The Oop-A-Doop Club is a place where Betty Boop works in the Dynamite Entertainment comic strip series and “Dizzy Dishes” is an animated cartoon created by Fleischer Studios in 1930 the first to feature Betty Boop – the Dizzy Dishes cartoon is the element that has fallen into public domain so they had to take inspiration from this cartoon to do the movie and not on Betty Boops cartoon appearances later down the line.
was this movie fun? yeah kinda, would I watch it again? probably not lol but im glad to have sat and watched it out of curiosity more than anything
